We are developing a new solution to help companies restore their operations and keep their employees a safe distance apart during the COVID-19 outbreak.
It is critical to stop the spread of the virus and get things back to the way they were (or as much as they can be). As recommended by Public Health England, one of the best ways to do this is to maintain a minimum distance of two metres to prevent virus transmissions. We understand how difficult it is to ensure this at work, especially as it's a measure many workers are completely accustomed to.
We are developing a new solution to help companies restore their operations and keep their employees a safe distance apart during the COVID-19 outbreak. We call it our Minimum Separation Distance technology, and it works by automatically notifying workers if they come within a minimum distance of each other.
Our social distancing solution consists of our Tended Wearable, a new ultra-wideband IOT proximity tag, and a mobile communication device. Together, this allows employees to adhere to minimum separation measures and stay safe, while giving employers the peace of mind around adherence to social distancing rules.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has tested every business, regardless of industry, size or age. Many have had to stop running due to them not being able to ensure the safety of their workers. We held a meeting with our top engineers to see if there was something we could do to help.
After brainstorming, we came to the realisation that our solution already had the framework for a social distancing solution in place. We've been working alongside industry-leading companies to solve their biggest safety challenges and have been developing a highly accurate proximity solution.
Businesses can set the minimum separation distance they want to enforce at their workplace, and the wearable will vibrate on their workers' wrists to notify them to move away. It's an effective way to remind workers to maintain a social distance, even when they are focused on their work.
The ultra-wideband IOT tag uses time-of-flight technology which allows for incredibly high location accuracy and precision positioning. It’s up to 12x more accurate than Bluetooth technology. It is also much faster and less vulnerable to interference.
Any social distancing breaches within a workforce are recorded and displayed on Tended’s online dashboard. This provides businesses with valuable feedback on their existing social distancing processes and areas for change, as well as insights into the effect of the change.
As an untracked COVID-19 diagnosis can spread quickly throughout organisations, putting workers and the wider public's health at risk, we are enabling contact tracing in the next version of our solution. If someone receives a COVID-19 diagnosis, they can update their status within their app, which sends a real-time alert to employers with a record of anyone they have been in close contact with. Employers can then send out a push notification to all the individuals that were in close contact with the affected employee for possible self-isolation and quarantining.
We have planned the contact tracing solution in a way that balances privacy with safety. It traces employees within the company’s network and only within business hours so there is no tracking or tracing beyond work to support employee privacy. Businesses have a duty of care and all our solutions make that seamless for employers.
Our social distancing solution is built onto our existing safety solution and employers will also have access to Tended's full suite of safety features. This includes real-time accident detection, check-in and SOS call functions and has been helping to improve employee safety within a number of industry-leading corporations.
Tended was founded to improve safety and save people's lives through technology. Our social distancing solution represents the direction we're headed, and we're pleased to be able to support workers and businesses to lessen the impact of the pandemic.
As a nation, we have a responsibility to stop the virus from spreading and keep the most vulnerable people in society safe. As a company, we have shifted our focus to help battle the virus. We know we need to act now to get businesses running again while keeping workers safe, stopping transmissions and ultimately saving lives.
For companies looking to trial our solution, Arup will provide independent and objective support, offering tailored services to review the suitability of Tended’s technology against other options, and where appropriate, to manage technology implementation and scaling.
